What is acupoint or trigger point injection therapy?
Trigger point injection therapy applies the injection of medications, vitamins and dextrose into traditional acu-points and other anatomical sites for the treatment of inflammation , alleviation of pain, improvement of joints’ range of motion and, pain management .Trigger Point Injection Therapy was developed by Janet G. Travell, M.D. in the 1950’s after her strong interest in spinal manipulation in the 40’s, she shifted her focus to soft tissue therapy. By 1955, she had developed her trigger point (TrP) theory of pain, a hypersensitive palpable nodule in a taut band of soft tissue that gives rise to refereed pain. Treatment is based on relieving muscle spasm with stretching and the injection of procaine, normal saline and more into trigger points.
There are so many benefits to combining these two therapies together for the ultimate relief of chronic pain, faster healing time and overall well being.
Over 70% of patients feel an immediate and long lasting relief of pain and symptoms after only 1 session of trigger point injections.
